Mirvac and Boral Develop Wantirna South
Mirvac and Boral have entered into an agreement to develop a 171-hectare quarry site at Wantirna South, located within the Dandenong Valley Parkland.
Mirvac Group has entered into an agreement with Boral to develop a 171-hectare, quarry site at Wantirna South, located within the Dandenong Valley Parkland corridor approximately 25 kilometres south-east of Melbourne’s CBD.
Mirvac plans to bring to life an expansive masterplanned community alongside substantial parklands which will be restored to their natural state as a home for native flora and fauna, with walking and bike trails integrated within the residential zones and the adjacent Jells Park.
Stuart Penklis, Mirvac’s Head of Residential, said the site represents a unique opportunity for Mirvac to create an exceptional new community that leverages its unrivalled parkland surrounds in the coveted and established south eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Subject to rezoning and planning approvals, Mirvac proposes approximately 1,700 residential lots, including a mix of house and land packages, designed to appeal to a wide range of customers drawing from a large catchment surrounding the site. Mirvac is also proposing to deliver 11-hectares of public open space within the development, together with a neighbourhood centre comprising retail, services and community facilities. Consistent with other Mirvac projects, the Group is targeting the early activation of this amenity to set the foundations for a vibrant, resilient and sustainable new neighbourhood.
Entering into this agreement extends Mirvac’s existing relationship with Boral, following the successful initial venture together at Olivine masterplanned community in Donnybrook, Victoria.
Mirvac is targeting leading sustainability ratings for the new community at Wantirna South in line with its ‘This Changes Everything’ Sustainability Strategy. The project is targeted to be released in FY23.
