Safety & Wellbeing

Our Commitment to Health, Safety & Environment

At Mirvac, health, safety, and environment is integral to everything we do. We are committed to safeguarding the physical and psychological wellbeing of our people while ensuring our operations remain safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible for our stakeholders and the broader community.

This commitment is reinforced through our Health, Safety, and Environment policy, with our executive leadership team driving accountability and ensuring its implementation across all levels of the organisation and every Mirvac-operated asset. Our approach is built on two core focus areas:

1. Prioritising Physical & Psychological Wellbeing

We prioritise people's physical and psychological health and safety, adopting a preventative approach to work-related physical and psychosocial hazards and equipping our leaders with the necessary knowledge and tools to create a positive, supportive, and psychologically safe work environment.

Beyond our preventative approach to physical and psychosocial hazards, we recognise that health and wellbeing extends into everyday life. That’s why we invest in specialised resources and best-in-class support services for both our employees and their families. Through access to health, safety, medical, and psychological support services, we ensure our people feel safe, protected, and empowered - both at work and beyond.

2. Operating Reliably, Safely & Responsibly

We take a systematic and proactive approach to embedding health and safety throughout the entire property lifecycle. By continuously assessing and adapting to our operating environments, we embed the management of major hazards into every stage of our projects, leveraging our fully integrated property model. This enables us to identify, control, and mitigate major hazards effectively while delivering safe, reliable and environmentally responsible performance of our people, places and processes.

We also aspire to uphold the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility. This is supported by our leadership adopting a questioning and curious mindset and discussing major hazards at core business forums.

Enabling Reliable, Safe, and Responsible Performance in Practice

To enable Mirvac to deliver on our HSE objectives, Mirvac’s HSE Management System and accompanying Mirvac Minimum Requirements (MMRs) provide the operational framework, procedures, and tools that enable leaders and employees to achieve their objectives.

In practice, this starts with conducting thorough due diligence of the risk profile and complexities of each asset and project, with key assurances and control strategies tabled prior to purchasing or commencement.

Our design, planning and procurement is then tailored to the risk profile and complexities of each project, leveraging our internal expert capabilities such as our in-house builder Mirvac Constructions, and our technical operations and facilities management teams from our Asset Management business.

This results in our products and projects having a long-term sustainable focus on major hazard event prevention across all aspects of our operations.

Additionally, operational teams across the business conduct regular ‘major hazard’ forecasts and assurance to dynamically identify changes and threats with major hazard potential, which tests the effectiveness and implementation of our Mirvac Minimum Requirements.

Mirvac acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners of the lands and waters of Australia, and we offer our respect to their Elders past and present.
