Meet Some Of The Team

Damian Holz

How long have you worked at Mirvac?

I have worked at Mirvac for a bit over two years now.

What is your role?

I started at Mirvac in a very different role, as National Manager, Lease and Contract Administration – Office & Industrial. Working in Mirvac I quickly became aware of the innovative culture and projects going on within the business, something which I have always been really interested in and wanted to get involved with. I expressed interest, began working on innovation projects within my role and business unit and a year later I was given a massive career opportunity to take a completely different pathway; (I call it my career ‘pivot’), to move into Mirvac’s innovation team – Hatch. I started in the Hatch team as an Innovation Specialist, and now with a year of innovation experience under my belt, I have moved in to an Innovation Lead role.

What are some highlights of the role?

Working in the Hatch team, no two days are the same. I am continually learning and building my experience, in ways I never knew imaginable. Working on delivering projects at the forefront of innovation, whilst on a shoestring budget (we call it ‘lean experiment’), requires a lot of creative thinking and tenacity. I get to work with many different people from across the business, startups, customers and other corporates, all of whom have unique perspectives and attributes which help us achieve what we need to for Mirvac. We also hit the pavement and speak to customers, conduct market research, in-depth interviews and lots of testing, learning, adapting and iterating.

Any interesting insights into your role?

Currently I am working on Cultivate, Mirvac’s indoor urban farm, where we have essentially run a live startup business in the form of a retail shopfront. In addition to this, our team is working on some very exciting things around helping digital natives live better urban lives.

How long have you worked at Mirvac?

Just had my four year anniversary.

What is your role?

Retail Portfolio Manager.

What are some highlights of the role?

What I love about my role is that it is so diverse, and no two days are ever the same! On any given day I can be involved in everything from setting the strategic direction for an asset, investigating development opportunities, acquisitions or divestments, valuations, strategic leasing and reconfigurations, operational decisions, people management, and the list goes on…

My role enables me to engage with so many people across the Mirvac business, from the Centre Teams to development, to finance and admin, to analysts and capital transactions, to my O&I counterparts where assets have both retail and office components, to presenting to the Investor Committee and even the Board.

Any interesting insights into your role?

This is the first sector specific role in my property career - I previously worked on diverse funds that incorporated Retail, Office and Industrial assets. The experience I gained in previous roles has assisted in providing a good grounding to enable thinking strategically about the whole of asset and working collaboratively with other business units.
