Mirvac is committed to being a force for good
Mirvac’s next phase of its This Changes Everything strategy focuses on some bold targets. As well as reaffirming its industry-leading environmental commitments to be net positive in carbon and water, and send zero waste to landfill, by 2030, Mirvac has announced it will provide unlimited fully paid volunteer leave to its employees and will direct $100 million of its procurement spend to social enterprise, Indigenous businesses and B-corps by 2030.

Launched in 2014, This Changes Everything is Mirvac’s set of ambitious targets that aim to leave a positive legacy on Australian communities and the planet.
The Group’s achievements to date include:
- creating a renewable energy company, Mirvac Energy, and installing over 2MW of solar power;
- managing the first building in Australia to achieve 6 Star Green Star Performance, 6 Star NABERS Energy and 6 Star NABERS Water ratings, without the use of green power;
- reducing carbon intensity by 26 per cent and water intensity by 25 per cent since 2014;
- increasing construction recycling rates to 96 per cent and operational recycling of waste to 69 per cent;
- prototyping the world’s first House with No Bills; and
- implementing Mirvac’s first Reconciliation Action Plan.
The Group also continues to progress solar initiatives across its residential projects, including Brighton Lakes and The Crest in Sydney, Tullamore and Altona North in Melbourne, and Ascot Green in Brisbane. In addition to this, the Group’s collaboration with Mates on The Move, a social enterprise initiative that provides employment pathways for men and women exiting correctional centres in NSW, has seen almost 290 tonnes of coffee cups and paper towels diverted from landfill.
Mirvac was also the recipient of Australia’s first Gold WELL rating for human health and wellbeing for its tenancy at the EY Centre, 200 George Street in Sydney, and was rated the world’s most sustainable real estate company by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 2017.
