Redefining St Leonards

Mirvac unveils its plan to redefine Sydney’s St Leonards. 

Few architects are given the chance to shape an urban environment with iconic design. Yet this was exactly the brief given to Sissons Architects and Mirvac Design when asked to redevelop a commercial site on Sydney’s lower north shore. 

The spectacular result is St Leonards Square, two proposed triangular towers that aim to redefine the St Leonards skyline and transform the location into a place alive with people, commerce and activity; a destination for living, working, shopping and dining. 

Sissons is one of Sydney’s new generation design practices who base their design approach upon a unique response to place, incorporating sustainability and technology. The collaboration between Sissons and Mirvac Design creates a formidable innovative partnership drawing on Mirvac’s extensive history in apartment design.

Mirvac Design Senior Associate Padma Lokugamage, said Mirvac’s transformational plans will replace existing commercial buildings with two iconic towers. “We are changing the way people will live in St Leonards. We are offering luxury apartment living, while at the same time providing easy access to a cosmopolitan lifestyle and convenient retail shopping,” said Padma. 

The William – Tower 1 includes ground level retail and a three level office podium with residential apartments above. 

A wide variety of apartment styles are featured and because the tower is on a highly elevated site, the views of the Sydney CBD and harbour begin early. 

The Jackson – Tower 2 is the taller of the two buildings with both towers being strategically designed to optimise views to the Sydney CBD and the Harbour Bridge, north-east towards Naremburn, Northbridge and Chatswood and west towards Gladesville, Hunters Hill and the Blue Mountains. 

“St Leonards Square residents will be able to enjoy their private home or interact with their community of neighbours in a relaxed and refined setting,” said Mr Carfi. 

“There is an increased focus on health and wellbeing and resident facilities such as the proposed outdoor landscaped podium, gymnasium, swimming pool, spa and sauna meet this need as well as providing opportunity for residents to meet and interact. If they want to dine out or shop there are many options planned for the development."

The proposed broad mix of apartment types has been designed to appeal to a diverse population from busy professional singles and couples, to families and down-sizers. “Mirvac is extremely excited to be involved in such a quality proposal which will redefine living on the lower north shore.”
