Orion Springfield Central has lodged a Development Application seeking approval to undergo a refurbishment of the internal food court, as well as an extension of the Centre’s external food court seating area.

Refurbishment works will see the rejuvenation of the food court’s ceiling and floor finishes, as well as the replacement of furniture to create a more desirable and comfortable environment for customers.

The application also includes the installation of a new outdoor deck and seating area, complete with an awning cover, to be built over the Centre’s Turtle Park linking to Town Walk. The 178-square metre deck will allow for a 40% increase in seating, while creating new family friendly dining pods and an improved dining experience for all customers.

Dogs will also be welcome on the deck, as a part of the Centre’s Pet Friendly initiative, which includes the addition of the Sirus Off-Leash dog park set to open next month.

Orion Spring Central’s Centre Manager, Melissa Crittenden, commented, “Our food court is a popular dining destination for our community and we look forward to offering an improved experience for our customers.

“Our research shows our customers love the relaxed indoor-outdoor offer at the Centre, so we look forward to adding to that experience with our new food court deck. The area will also offer something for everyone, with family friendly seating pods, lounges, cabanas and pet friendly areas.”

Subject to Council approval, works are expected to commence mid-2018. The works will be staged to ensure that there is minimal impact to customers.

All food court retailers will trade as usual throughout the refurbishment.

Rejuvenation and development works follow the recent completion of Orion’s $154 million expansion in March 2016. The expansion saw a larger and more dynamic mix of dining, retail and entertainment tenants; further establishing Orion’s’ position as a community hub consistently responding to the needs of its customers and the region it serves.
