Mirvac's The Fabric grows greener with opening of The Lawn

1st July 2025

Mirvac is pleased to announce the official opening of The Lawn, a vibrant new public park within its award-winning masterplanned community, The Fabric by Mirvac, located in Altona North - just 9 km from Melbourne’s CBD and moments from Williamstown Beach.

The Lawn was officially opened on Sunday, celebrated by an enthusiastic crowd of residents and community members who gathered to enjoy live entertainment, food stalls, and family-friendly activities.

Mirvac’s Development Director for Masterplanned Communities in Victoria, Glen Greening said The Lawn is a vibrant new addition to The Fabric, joining the much-loved Patchwork Park to provide even more space for the community to connect and unwind.

“This new open space features seating and a half basketball court designed to support active lifestyles and social connection. Together with The Thread - a landscaped pathway linking the parks - these elements help transform this former industrial site into a thriving, sustainable, and inclusive urban village for the community to enjoy,” said Mr Greening.

The community came together to enjoy a fantastic day filled with locally sourced activities and resident-hosted experiences, including basketball skills and drills run by local team Williamstown Magic, led by The Fabric residents, and a classic sausage sizzle hosted by the Hobsons Bay SES.

Interior styling sessions with GlobeWest offered design inspiration, while coffee, puppachinos, and dog treats from local business, Poochie Coochie kept both people and pets happy. Guests also enjoyed cupcakes made by a local business owner and Fabric resident, adding a sweet touch to the day. For families, there was plenty of fun with face painting, bubble play, and lawn games.

“It was wonderful to see the community come together to celebrate the opening with a dedicated community day - complete with family-friendly activities and support from local businesses. From basketball sessions to cupcakes, coffee, and treats from passionate local traders and residents, the event really captured the spirit of The Fabric and the strong sense of home we’re building here,” said Mr Greening.

The Fabric features a community-wide rainwater harvesting system that collects water from townhouse rooftops and stores it in tanks beneath Patchwork Park for efficient irrigation of green spaces. The residential community also incorporates energy-efficient designs and materials to reduce environmental impact, supporting a healthy, eco-friendly urban lifestyle.

The Fabric is now offering the final release of architecturally designed townhomes within the Jacaranda neighbourhood. This limited collection includes a selection of park-fronting three- and four-bedroom homes, positioned along The Lawn, as well as a final two-bedroom townhome.

A selection of homes features rooftop terraces with stunning city views, and all offer spacious, thoughtfully designed layouts and are complete and ready to move in now.

New release coming soon with new design features. For more information on The Fabric, please visit the display suite and new display homes at 198b Blackshaws Road, Altona North, or https://thefabric.mirvac.com/
