Community milestone underway at The Village, Menangle

This bridge is part of Mirvac’s development, The Village, Menangle and is the first step in providing a safe path across the railway line for the community.

Warwick Bible, Mirvac’s General Manager for Residential Development in NSW said the first stage of installation of the new pedestrian bridge is an exciting milestone for the community.

“Our priority has always been to deliver a safe route for existing and future residents, providing better connectivity to the village of Menangle, the railway station, and Rotolactor Park. The pedestrian bridge will allow residents located east and west of the railway station to have greater access to the community that is forming at The Village, especially as we deliver additional open spaces and community facilities,” said Mr Bible.

“Transferring the bridge beam from Newcastle to Menangle was an interesting process, but we’re thrilled to see the bridge installed and ready for the next phase. We look forward to welcoming the community and officially opening the pedestrian bridge early next year,” said Mr Bible.

The 60-tonne bridge beam was built in Newcastle by Steel Construction Institute and transferred down to Menangle last month. The beam was escorted by two vehicles, unloaded by multiple 150-tonne cranes and successfully installed over the rail line by a massive 750t crane. Access ramps will commence later this year, with the bridge expected to open to the wider community in the first half of 2025.

The Village, Menangle will deliver approximately 380 homes on completion, along with community open spaces and facilities. In 2023, Mirvac opened Rotolactor Park, 1.35 hectares of green open space which boasts a mix of native and deciduous trees, a nature play area, space for ball games, BBQ spots and an all-abilities playground suitable for all ages. Rotolactor Park offers a place for both residents and members of the wider community to gather and connect.

Just a 10-minute drive to Macarthur Square and Campbelltown, The Village, Menangle is a growing community surrounded by urban essentials of shopping, hospitals and public transport and greenery and a meandering creek.
