Logan scores new $11 Million Everleigh AFL oval
Logan has officially scored a new $11 million MCG-sized AFL oval and Auskick field, located in the heart of developer Mirvac’s Everleigh masterplanned community in Greenbank.
More than 2,500 people kicked the first goals on the field at the Everleigh Footy Festival, which was held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 to mark the exciting milestone for the region.
Local families, community groups and teams celebrated the opening of the new state-of-the-art facility in style, after much anticipation for the new field since construction started in late 2021, with AFL games, activities, food, and festive fireworks.
The 5.5 hectare AFL oval and Auskick field were designed in partnership between Mirvac, Logan City Council and AFL Queensland and represent the first stage of Everleigh’s $16 million competition-grade AFL precinct, with construction also starting on an adjoining clubhouse earlier this month (November 2023).
The new AFL oval and future Everleigh Sports Park Clubhouse are set to become the home ground for local AFL team Park Ridge Pirates upon completion of the new clubhouse in mid-2024.
Mirvac General Manager, Residential Development Queensland, Warwick Bible, said the opening of the new Everleigh AFL oval marked the beginning of new sporting opportunities for the region.
“Years ago, Mirvac set out to deliver an AFL precinct with top-notch facilities and amenities as part of our broader 25-hectare Everleigh Regional Sports Park, designed to enhance the well-being and lifestyle of our residents and the Logan community,” said Mr Bible.
“The completion of the Everleigh AFL oval is the first stage of our team delivering on this promise to the community, and we know it will play a significant role in introducing new sporting opportunities for generations to come.
“It was truly special to be able to mark this milestone for Everleigh and Logan with so many people from the community at the Footy Festival, and we look forward to celebrating with them again when the Everleigh Sports Park Clubhouse is completed next year.”
Mirvac acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners of the lands and waters of Australia, and we offer our respect to their Elders past and present.
